Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few questions on roof cleaning and roof coating that we are regularly asked, if the information you are looking for is not here, please feel free to call 01268 722504 or contact us online.

No, Climashield™ is a protective roof coating to protect the roof tiles from adverse weather and slow down deterioration of a roof. It will not stop a roof leaking if roof tiles are cracked or broken.

Well firstly once your roof has been cleaned and coated it will look fantastic, as good as new! On top of this the roof coating will make the roof tiles water resistant and protected from the elements.

For an average sized property, we expect the whole process to take 2-3 days, dependent on weather conditions. In most instances the roof cleaning and roof coating process cannot be carried out on the same day as a roof needs to be dry before it can be coated.

It is important not to assume your roof tiles will last forever. As roof tiles deteriorate over time due to the weather and lose their surface coating they become less water resistant. This can lead to a number of problems such as moss growth, which is unsightly and potentially damaging to the roof.

It is the damp areas on roof tiles that creates the perfect environment for moss to grow. Climashield™ roof coatings will help prevent the re-growth of mosss as they will make a roof much more resistant to water penetration.

In the EU, biocide legislation states that the chemicals needed to make a roof "moss free" are illegal. This has been the case for many years now and any company making claims they can coat a roof and give it 100% protection from the re-growth of moss is probably overstepping legal boundaries (EU consumer protection act). If you come across any such claims, ask to see the technical data from the manufacturer where this 'moss free' claim is stated.

Yes. If in doubt, please request a copy of the insurance certificate at the point of survey.

Yes. Prior to cleaning, downpipes will be covered to prevent any blockages. Any areas requiring extra protection will be shielded with tarpaulins. Once the roof has been cleaned, all gutters will cleared of any moss and dirt that may have come off the roof. Any mess created during cleaning will be removed from site afterwards.
